Tournament Update

So I got real excited for the tournament and pulled the trigger pretty quick. I'm very lucky to have such a great Co-Host on the Podcast. Major thanks to Jimmy Nonas for sitting down with me yesterday and hammering out the rules and details for this tournament.

We came up with a smart way of making this tournament as interesting and as much fun to discuss/listen to as possible. Jimmy made a great point that the team we felt would take it all should also be the team to beat and therefore all other teams should be made to be as much of a challenge as they could be.

So, most teams have been updated to from 4-7 members to 5-7, with only a few teams having less than 7. The prerequisite for being on a team was that the character most have been listed as an active member of that team at some point in comic book history. Not story canon, just history. So if there was a alternate reality version of a team, a character from that reality could be a teammate to an original core member of said team. Example: the Fantastic Four had variations of the team throughout the years, even having Wolverine, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and the Hulk take over. So a Fantastic 4 lineup for the tournament could look like (not saying it does) Mr. Fantastic, Wolverine, Human Torch, Hulk, Thing, Invisible Girl, Ghost Rider, and Spider-Man. That's just an example. We also tried to keep duplicating characters for multiple teams. Like me made Wolverine an X-Men rather than both an X-Men AND AN Avenger, even though he was both at the same time in the comics. Another example is the Hulk. He's been a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the Defenders. In our "draft" yesterday, the Red Hulk was put on the Avengers, and World War Hulk is the Horsemen War in Apocalypse's Horsemen. Confused? It's ok. It will be cleared up when each team has a breakdown.

ALSO - We decided to remove the following teams from the tournament and replace them. Removed teams are: G.I. Joe, COBRA, The Reavers, and The Marauders.

New teams replacing them are: The Thunderbolts, Action Movie Good Guys, Movie Bad Guys, and Marvel Big Bosses.

We'll probably start the first round fights next week, so stay tuned to this blog and also the Good Shit Podcast on Soundcloud.com for more!
