GoT Mondays - Who is Narrating A Song of Ice & Fire?

There's this theory floating around that I am a big fan of. I don't necessarily believe it, but it makes sense and I enjoy the speculation. It was actually I wondered while reading the books. While reading, have you ever wondered who it was that was telling you the story? This theory tries to offer an answer to that question. But first, who do you think would be the best character to narrate this tale?

At first you might think it's a Stark, like Ned or Bran or maybe even Jon, but the farther you get in the books, the less likely that seems.

It coould have been Tyrion, but the POV of the narrator doesn't have the same flare that Tyrion has when speaking.

It can't be a Lannister, because there's too much negative stuff about them, and any of them would try to sway the readers to their side.

Most likely the narrator is an unbiased party, like a maester of the Citadel. The book The World of Ice & Fire, while written by several people is actually told through the perspective of a maester.

So what character have we come to trust, and is about to start studying to become a maester? Well none other than SAMWELL TARLY! How perfect would that be?

It explains why there's so much detail about the events at and beyond the Wall, why the Starks are held in such high esteem, why the Lannisters are made to look evil,  why the Targaryans are looked at as a possible "return to greatness" and why characters that are often looked at as "less than" by most people in Westeros actually are the most interesting characters, ie Jon (a bastard), Dany (first seen as an overly submissive naive princess), Sam (an overweight coward), Tyrion (a dwarf) and Bran (a cripple).

Sam is in a perfect position to write this story, especially if he complete his maester training. Recording the history of Westeros is one of the responsibilities of the Citadel, and while I think the story has more in store for Sam than just training as a maester, the timeline still works out.

This whole series of books and show could be Sam's retelling! Just look at the opening credits! It turns out that the thing with all of the symbols of the Great Houses of Westeros is actually a chandalier in the Citadel Library!

What do you think? Is there a narrator to this story? If  you don't think it's Sam, who then?

Thanks for reading! Come back tomorrow for a recap of NY Comic Con! And Wednesday for the first installment of Deadpool's Wacky Adventures with the Infinity Gauntlet! And of course Thursday for What Would Batman Do? And Friday for FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS!
